In the 1977-78 season, Club Brugge reached the final of the European Cup I. To date, it is the only time that a Belgian football club has reached the final of the European Cup I. The final was played in the Wembley Stadium against Liverpool. Club Brugge missed an important player in Raoul Lambert and it was thanks to the strong performance of goalkeeper Birger Jensen that Liverpool did not take the lead early. In the second half it was Dalglish who scored the winning goal for Liverpool.
