Vintage Leeds United 1914-1915 retro shirt by Toffs. In the year 1905 the then Leeds City was allowed to play in the Football League. During World War I, Leeds City experienced financial difficulties. This meant, among other things, that the club was no longer able to provide players with wages. This resulted in Leeds City being disbanded in 1919 and withdrawn from the league after 8 games. In the wake of Leeds City's demise, Leeds United was founded and joined the Football League the following season. A true goal-getter played for Leeds United in the 1950s; John Charles. He became a true club icon, scoring a total of 150 times for Leeds United. Today he still holds a club record; Charles scored the most goals in a season.
