The King (Le Roi) Michel Platini was a midfielder with excellent kicking technique. Platini is seen as one of the most elegant footballers of his generation. His professional career started at AS Nancy, where he played football for six seasons and won the French Cup in 1978. He left for AS Saint-Étienne, where he won the French title in 1981. In 1982 he left for Italian Serie A club Juventus, where he scored 68 goals in 147 league games as a midfielder. Platini helped Juventus to two Italian titles, the Italian Cup, the European Cup I and the European Cup II, before ending his active career in 1987. Platini was voted European Footballer of the Year three times and Best French Footballer of All Time twice.
